Food health and supplement advisor Mike has worked in the industry for the past 7 years, starting his career in nutritional health with the General Nutrition Centre in Chichester.
Since then, he has gone on to work for independent, national and multinational companies such as Napier’s.
Mike Joined Serenity as the Clinic Manager for its opening in July 2008 having previously worked for Gosports only independent health store. Having already worked in the field of nutritional health for several years and completing a vast range of herbal and nutritional courses with some of the industry’s top manufacturers, Mike finally decided to complete a nationally recognized diploma in clinical nutrition with a NCFE approved college
His experience working with supplements gives him vital working knowledge of the products available and their value for money, ensuring all his clients get the most appropriate advice and supplements.
Mike has a slightly different approach in consultations, believing the answer is not simply handing clients a diet sheet and a list of supplements, but actively encouraging clients to understand their own health needs. He states “We all know deep down what are bodies need, likewise we know the foods we should be avoiding, by assessing a clients diet and lifestyle with them, rather than for them, they gain a much needed boost and are much more likely to follow the advice that they themselves have helped to provide, more often than not, when discussing particular foods with a client, they will begin to comment on how their bodies react to those foods, but how they hadn’t noticed this until right now! This is essential for clients to really understand the changes they may be asked to make”.
