Making Complementary Therapies Affordable:

Serenity believes that complementary therapies should be available to all and with NICE (National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence) releasing new

guidelines this may soon be viable.

At present most therapies are not available on the NHS and the new guidelines only propose funding for short term treatments of spinal manipulation and Acupuncture.

Because of this Serenity has launched a low income clinic aimed at making complementary therapies available to as many people as possible.

Every Friday Treatments will be available at cost to those in receipt of certain benefits (please check the who qualifies section opposite to see if you meet the criteria)

Working in partnership with local GP’s, Serenity hopes to better the health of as many people as possible.

What’s On Offer:

Therapies currently on offer in our low income clinic include:

· Medical Acupuncture

· Chiropractic

· Bowen Technique

· Herbalism*

· Reflexology

· Sports & Remedial Massage

We hope to be able to offer more therapies in the low income clinic by Autumn 09 *Please be aware that Herbalism shall not be available till the end of summer 2010. In certain circumstances treatments may be available for use as case studies.

Who Qualifies:

If you are currently in receipt of the following benefits then you should qualify for our low income clinic:

· Income Support

· Job Seekers Allowance

· Disability Living Allowance or Incapacity Benefit

· 18+ and in full time education

Proof of receipt of these benefits will be necessary on your first visit. This can include a letter received by yourself from the relevant body confirming the benefit (please note this letter must have been received within the last three months)

If you do not have any recent correspondence then the

following may be used:

Recent bank or building society statement showing

payments

(Please note a photocopy will be taken of proof of

benefits provided, in the case of bank statements the

majority of the statement can be blanked out, but we must be able to see your name, the payments itself and the date of payment. If using a bank statement as proof of receipt of payments, please make sure the statement is no more than 40 days old).

If you receive a benefit but it is not listed here, please do not hesitate to contact the clinic manager where arrangements may be made at his/her discretion.

All therapies on offer at our low income clinics are priced at £12.50. (initial consultations with our Chiropractor are £20, this is due to the length of time the consultation can take).

This price has been worked out by adding together the

average cost of materials used per treatment.

This low price  allows us to offer this service without

incurring any charges ourselves.

Terms & Conditions:

Proof of receipt of benefits must provided on your first visit

You must tell us when you stop receiving benefits, where possible, initial alternative arrangements can be made to allow you to continue treatment where necessary.

Serenity and/or its therapists cannot guarantee the success of any treatment under E.U and U.K law.

In certain circumstances Serenity and/or it’s

therapists may deem it necessary to contact your GP.

Certain circumstances may require a written letter of consent to treatment from your GP.

Serenity cannot take responsibility for the damage or loss of any property left on the premises during your visit

Serenity maintains the right to refuse treatment at any time. We maintain the right to cancel or postpone appointments without prior notice. This will always be avoided where possible

Serenity has strict personal data controls in place, we will never pass on your details without your consent Access to all personal information is limited to the clinic manager and the therapist you are being treated by. Serenity also has an internal code of ethics that practitioners must adhere to as well as those set out by their relevant governing

bodies.
